Following up on the “Bowmore straight from the source“, we are back to try some more of that juice: the 25yo Distiller’s Anthology 01. The juiciest of the lot? I better hope so, given that the I paid £20 for a mere 2cl sample. A bottle would fetch €700 on auction, probably haussed by Bowmore cultists responsible for the crazy 91.32/100 rating on WhiskyBase.

Bowmore 25yo 1996 50.2% “Distiller’s Anthology 01” Official Bottling
Oloroso Sherry • Distillery Exclusive
⚡Experience
Rather complex nose: sweet peat, iodine, ripe fruits (tropical) and apple pie, leather and jute cloth. On the palate, the arrival brings smoldering, earthy peat, followed by rum-raisin, fruity cigar notes, and some menthol. The long finish is like to a nutty oloroso sherry.
⚖️Verdict
Overall quite elegant and finding good balance between peat and sherry. One I’d like to sip slowly, and just enjoy without over-analyzing — in a armchair discussing philosophy late at night?
